Governing Body Spotlight

I have been in the Data and Analytics realm for about two decades, and the last decade has been in healthcare, and the prior decade was in services, retail and finance. I have worked across both payer and provider organizations in the healthcare industry and have learnt to appreciate the nuances of data, analytics and metrics used in both types of organizations. 

I strive to establish data as a strategic asset for the organization, rather than use data as a reporting commodity only. I encourage my business partners to look into the insights that data provides and enable them to achieve their business priorities.

Fun fact - I practice yoga a few times a week, and that is what keeps me grounded both on and off the mat. I am now training to be a yoga instructor!

Give us a brief overview of the path that led to your current role.

Data has always intrigued me since my grad school, and it was only natural that I gravitated towards a data analyst role for my first job. From there, it has been a fascinating experience to take on many different roles in architecture, development, testing and project management that helped build my skills across different functions. This versatility helped me to see things at the micro level when I took on leadership roles, enabling me to deliver business value. I have been fortunate to have wonderful mentors who have helped guide my path.
 

What is one of your guiding leadership principles?

I believe in authentic leadership, and if that showcases my vulnerability and human side, I am perfectly fine. I have no hidden agenda and believe in walking the talk.
 

What is the greatest challenge your particular C-level role is facing today, and how are you addressing it?

There is so much talk about AI and the many different ways AI can bring value to the organization, but the micro component of AI is data, and there is not much attention given to the data, its quality and reliability, availability, etc.
 

What is the key to success for someone just starting out in your C-level role?

Be an active listener to your business partners and build relationships with not just the leaders in the organization, but also the people that are at the front lines.
 

What is the value of being a member of the Evanta community?

Evanta has helped me connect with other C-suite leaders in the industry where we share our best practices and success stories and also learn from each other. This is truly a great community that is willing to listen to your everyday challenges, validate strategies for overcoming those challenges and celebrating your success with you.
