Give us a brief overview of the path that led to your current role.

Technology is a passion, and we are living in a fascinating world where technology is everywhere and every day. I have had the chance to meet the right people and companies to develop both a passion and an understanding of the impacts and opportunities offered by these technological developments.

At Accenture, I developed my analysis, adaptation, and program management skills. Later, at Schneider Electric, I developed a broader understanding of IT strategic planning at a large scale. Currently, I am continuing this journey at InVivo, helping my company to handle these new revolutions in technology.

What are your guiding leadership principles?

It is important to help team members grow their skills. A CIO’s team must be primarily performance-driven, with an understanding of business management, project delivery and operations management, as well as a strong IT & technical mindset.

With disruption being a key theme of the past few years, where do you see your role as a CIO going in the next 1-2 years?

The last few years have seen an increase in the number of crises. The challenges brought by these crises, together with the avalanche of new technologies, have forced the CIO teams to resolve a paradox of risk (e.g. long lead time projects like ERP replacement) and opportunity (e.g. eCommerce, digital business models). The CIO must be a captain to cruise between:

  • Selectivity – ensuring that we co-define with the business organisation the adequate prioritisation framework
  • Agility – ensuring that we build composable architecture with reusable bricks to accelerate deliveries
  • Business and Technology Watch – ensuring that we are constantly screening evolutions and disruptions

What advice would you give to someone just starting out in the role as a CIO?

Listen, both internally and externally. Animate – be a coach, not a manager.

Tell us three fun facts about yourself.

  1. I grew up in a skiing resort in the mountains.
  2. I traveled across the globe for ten years.
  3. I love diving!
