Give us a brief overview of the path that led to your current role.

I have always been a techie at heart. I enjoy working in the IT infrastructure space and spending my career supporting, designing, implementing and (early on) managing and leading teams within the infrastructure space. Security has always been a key factor in anything infrastructure services brings online. Recently, I had the opportunity to expand my leadership role to include Cyber Security.

What is one of your guiding leadership principles?

My guiding leadership principles are listening to understand and enabling the team for continuous learning and improvement.

With disruption being a key theme of recent years, where do you see the CISO role going in the next 1-2 years?

All business innovations have a digital technology touch point to create data and digital footprints. Therefore, IT leaders need to have a broader understanding within the organization and industry. They need to blur their responsibility to learn the ever-changing internal and external customer needs.

Be an ambassador to build and expand the data-driven decision-making culture we currently live in. As a Cyber Security leader in the increased cyber crime world,  it is critical to be a partner in all business areas to balance and protect company digital assets and the people they serve.

What advice would you give to someone just starting out as a CISO?

Ensure you have a mentor to challenge you. Keep your word. Be humble and acknowledge  your limitations.

Tell us three fun facts about yourself.

I enjoy woodworking, vegetable gardening and do-it-yourself projects.
