Give us a brief overview of the path that led to your current role.
My professional journey is unconventional as I initially had ambitions to become a partner at one of the Big 4 accounting firms.
Although my career started off aligned with that goal, an unforeseen change occurred when I was laid off. A mentor’s encouragement led me to consider and land a role in cybersecurity, a field that I never would have considered on my own.
My career milestones can be traced back to personal and professional connections. I am thankful to those who saw potential in me and believed in my capabilities before I could fully comprehend them myself.
What is one of your guiding leadership principles?
Security is a team sport is my guiding leadership principle. It takes teamwork, collaboration and partnership to drive meaningful and demonstrable improvements to your security program and posture. Recognition plays a vital role in a successful information security program.
