Give us a brief overview of the path that led to your current role.
I transitioned from telecommunications leadership roles to cybersecurity GRC to CISO.
What is one of your guiding leadership principles?
Integrity, clear vision, risk-based approach to security management, team empowerment and rewards.
What is the greatest challenge CISOs face today, and how are you addressing it?
Operational Technology Security. We’re launching a three-year OT Security Technology Maturity project.
What is the key to success for someone just starting out as a CISO?
Business Impact Assessment. Gaining a full understanding of the business critical systems that can cause a significant loss in case of disruption. Get a good handle on the threat landscape for the organization, and understand the long term business objectives and transformation.
How do you measure success as a leader?
It’s important to establish objective measures around security maturity and ensure these KPIs and objectives undergo constant improvement while keeping the threat levels within the risk appetite for the company.
