AUGUST 2024

As the business landscape rapidly evolves, Chief Information Security Officers (CISOs) play a key role in not only protecting against an increase in cyber threats, but also ensuring the business has the agility to keep up with the market. In 2024, the rise of advanced artificial intelligence and generative AI solutions is introducing new security challenges, and CISOs have mounting pressure to create an environment where businesses can safely innovate.

CISOs are partnering with technology and business stakeholders to accomplish this. However, preconceived notions, different approaches and competing priorities often lead to misalignment. How can CISOs effectively collaborate across the enterprise?

At the upcoming Chicago CISO Inner Circle on September 12, Director of Security Technology and Strategy for Akamai Technologies, Tony Lauro will lead a panel on “Security that IT Loves – Building Synergy Between CISOs, IT, and Business.” The discussion will focus on security strategies that bridge the gap between security, technology and the business.

Tony will be joined by Mike Zachman, VP & Chief Security Officer at Zebra Technologies; Ralston Simmons, Director of Information Security at Vivid Seats; Ken Townsend, Global CISO at Ingredion and Craig Rydalch, Senior Director Information Risk & Compliance at Danaher. They will address top security priorities for the modern CISO and security trends that impact business today, including innovative security practices, compliance requirements and tactics for managing the hybrid workforce.

Ahead of the session, Tony is sharing insight into this topic, and why it is critical for CISOs to be seen as enablers and not barriers to business success.

What are some of the challenges CISOs face in this area?

CISOs are facing challenges around the reliance on and growth of APIs, PCI compliance, vendor consolidation, and the hybrid workforce and remote user access.

Why is it critical for Evanta’s CISO community members to have this conversation now?

This conversation is critical for CISOs in the Evanta Community, because in today's rapidly evolving digital landscape, the role of the Chief Information Security Officer is more crucial than ever. However, creating security programs that align with IT operations and business objectives remains a significant challenge. It is a top security priority for CISOs to foster a collaborative environment where security is seen not as a hindrance, but as an enabler of business agility and innovation.
