The New Call to Human Leadership
Today’s leaders must confront new realities and layers of complexity, with employees now expecting more authenticity, empathy and flexibility. Organisations must equip their leaders to operate in a more human way — for both employees and the business. Employees of human leaders are less likely to quit, be more engaged, have better well-being and perform at a higher level. Unfortunately, human leaders are few and far between. Organisations can create human leaders by understanding and addressing leaders’ deeply human and emotional barriers to change. There are three types of leaders who are ineffective at human leadership — doubtful achievers, fearful believers and uncertain strivers. Join this session to understand how to instill commitment, courage and confidence in your leaders to act as human leaders.
- Human leaders are essential but rare: only 29% of employees say that their leaders are effective human leaders.
- Leaders are held back from embracing human leadership because of doubt, fear and uncertainty that HR leaders can only effectively address using strategies that treat leaders like humans, not just like leaders.
- Organisations that directly address the emotional barriers that hold leaders back from effective human leadership can nearly double the number of human leaders they have, going from 29% to 48%.
