Architecting AI-Driven Supply Chain — From Hype to High-Impact

Supply chains are on the cusp of an AI-powered transformation. With rich data assets and repeatable processes, they are uniquely positioned to harness AI—even as the technology sits at the peak of inflated expectations. Leading CSCOs understand that success requires a two-pronged approach: deliver value now through focused, practical use cases, and simultaneously build the blueprint for an AI-native future. This means moving beyond hype and taking ownership of AI strategy, experimentation, and capability development.

To unlock AI’s full potential, supply chain organizations must go deeper than surface-level initiatives. Agentic AI may promise autonomy, but current capabilities fall short. Touchless forecasting depends on accurate, timely data—yet issues like incompleteness and accessibility persist. CSCOs must reengineer workflows, reimagine roles, and establish a fit-for-AI technology foundation. Those who balance quick wins with long-term investments will lead the way as AI becomes core to supply chain performance.

  1. What steps can a CSCO take to reengineer workflows and fully integrate AI for meaningful impact?
  2. What steps are needed to overcome data quality and accessibility challenges in AI-driven forecasting?
  3. How should a CSCO build AI savviness and take active ownership of supply chain AI strategy?
  4. What strategies are CSCO's using to more effectively communicate the ROI and broader business objectives of AI investments?
